I need to create a secure boot up from the FPGA for the Intel Altera DE1 SoC Cyclone V Board and I have no idea how to go about this.

I have a sd card that has a zimage on it as well as a fpga configuration file so I guess I need to find a way to encrypt it and decrypt it as it goes through boor up. Please help

I have already looked at that rocket board example but I guess its kind of vague, like I guess for example I’m not sure how to specifically authenticate the next stage boot

Authenticate in the rocket board mentioned about the AES key you generated in the quartus prime which has to be part of preloader stage which is not as normal boot flow. can you kindly let me know how i can help you further on the same ? or if you have specific question please feel free to ask ? Thank you , Regards, Sree

That AES key encryption from the AN556 guide requires a intel fpga Ethernet cable that I don’t have and costs 450 bucks :(
