Error(24438): The Quartus® Prime Software does not support HPS to be connected to both EMIF interface and HBM interface for Agilex™ FPGA device. Disconnect either HPS-EMIF or HPS-HBM

Description

In Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.1, you may encounter the following error during the Synthesis stage when running an EMIF IP for HPS and HBM2E IP design with the "HPS boot from HBM2E" setting disabled:

 

Error(24438): The Quartus Prime Software does not support HPS to be connected to both the EMIF interface and HBM interface for the Agilex™ FPGA device. Disconnect either HPS-EMIF or HPS-HBM.

Resolution

To work around this error, remove or comment out the following assignment in the HBM .qip file(s):

 

set_global_assignment -entity "ed_synth_hbm_fp_..." -library "hbm_fp_400" -name HPS_ISW_HBM "HPS_IO_HBM_CH_EN 1 HPS_IO_HBM_ECC_EN 0"

 

This issue has been fixed in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.3 and onwards.
