Hi Jyothi,
There are several different options available, but it largely depends on what board you are using. For example, if your audio output was done using USB, you could use a board similar to the Agilex 5E Premium Devkit as it has a USB interface.
Another option is to create a peripheral in the fabric connected to the H2F bridge, and then connect that to a DAC driving a traditional audio amplifier. This would be something that you would potentially need to add to the devkit though.

Hello kbrunham,
Thank you for your response.
Here is the detailed version of my requirement:
I am designing a custom board in which we are using Agilex5 as SoC +FPGA. In the previous revision we have used IMX8MQ and Cyclone 10, now replacing IMX8MQ & cyclone 10 with Agilex 5 SoC+FPGA.
So i want to interface external Audio codec (SSM2518CPZ) and speaker with Agilex 5, not sure which interface i have to use in Agilex 5 to meet this requirement.
Currently i am not using any development kit.
Please share the interface details and reference docs for this audio requirement.
Regards,
Jyothi.

Hi Jyothi,
Yes — you can use the SSM2518CPZ with an Agilex 5 SoC FPGA — but Agilex5 does not provide a dedicated I²S audio peripheral. That means you need to implement the I²S logic (soft IP) in the FPGA fabric and wire up the codec’s I²S and I²C pins to FPGA/HPS I/O.
You can take community help or use public domain info as there’s no officially documented I²S reference design for Altera SoCFPGA.
