I think a good reason why "it doesn't work" is that "there is a mistake".

Now if you want a more detailed answer, you will have to give more details. What did you do so far, did you run a simulation, what are the results, what did you expect instead, did you try to debug with Signaltap, what did you get, what did you expect instead etc...

And just "I plugged a screen and it's black" isn't good enough a problem description.
