USB blaster not recognized in windows 7 32 bit

starting a new thread on this as I didn't see any 32 bit solution in the megathread.

okay I am am running Altera 11.0sp1 build 208. I am using the Quartus II programmer and signal TAP. windows 7 and 32 bit.

I see in altera/11.0sp1/qprogrammer/driver/usbblaster/x32 driver is present. I did not add any driver myself.

I plug my USB blaster into my board and into my USB, no plug and play message appear. nothing.

I start up Signal tap or programmer and try to "add harware". I see options for byte blaster and ethernet blaster. In the "port" section I see "Kernel mode driver not installed".

I see the blue LED on USB blaster itself is on so connection is good.

any ideas?

I you only installed the Programmer only, then you may need to start the programmer first in order to register into windows correctly.

You may want to double check if the programmer can detect the blaster correctly or not first.

Also, if you just installed the programmer, you may want to double check if the path has set correctly in the windows environment variable.

Hi I had this problem. My USB-blaster didn't work. I could not install driver for it. I run Quartus II 11.1 sp2 and I have windows7 32 bit. I spent a lot of time to figure out what the problem is and it is really silly.

When you open Device manager do right click on USB-blaster and do update of your driver. Don't put there whole path altera\11.1sp2\quartus\drivers\usb-blaster\x32 but only altera\11.1sp2\quartus\drivers\usb-blaster. And after that allow to install that and problem is solved or it was solved in my case.
