Quartus Prime Standard 16.1 NIOS launch error on Windows 10

Question

Hi All..

I recently installed Quartus Prime Standard 16.1 on my Windows 10 machine. I tried running a NIOS II hello world template, but getting elf launch error. Read somewhere that NIOS II is not supported in Windows 10. Has anyone else tried or any workaround?

Indeed NIOS II EDS is not supported on Windows 10 BUT - I am using Quartus Prime Lite 16.1 (crucially with NIOS II / EDS working well) on Windows 10....I do seem to remember having to make some adjustments to get it working...
