Quartus II v10.0 web edition, megawizard will not open alt2gxb/alt4gxb megafunction

Hi,

I am working on a design for the Cyclone IV GX, using one of the transcievers. Device targetted is EP4CGX15BF14C8. Started with Quartus II v9.1sp2 and I could make a custom transciever using the megawizard tool. However when I switched to v10.0 firstly the design would not compile, it seems the transciever clock source has to be differental, not a problem before. Then if I try to open the transciever source with the megawizard tool it complains that 'talkback' has to be enabled. I am very sure it is enabled but no joy.

Anyone having a simular problem? Any ideas?

thanks

Dave

you might need to make a new MegaWizard function with the ALTGX function. this is my guess since my alt2gxb is greyed out in 10.0

    Thanks for the response pancake.

I tried what you suggested, I selected ALTGX megafunction. However same problem, it errors saying the Altera talkback function must be enabled. But as I say it most definately is enabled.

Should I post this direct to Altera?

    Cheers

at what point do you see the error? i just created an ALTGX function on QII 10.0 Web Edition on Linux and didn't run into any issues

Well I am using an old laptop running XP. I can start the wizard with the ALTGX megafunction. Then it errors saying the talkback must be enabled. But talkback is most definately enabled. I know that some features are disabled from the Web edition if talkback is off. But the signal tap feature works (that was disabled without talkback).

So I am at a loss to know what to try, perhaps I will install Quartus 10 on a different machine that runs Vista.

Just a note to say that the megawizard works when I tried on a different computer running Vista. So this has to be an XP issue.

interesting, usually its the other way around (XP ok, problems on Vista). does the XP QII 10.0 install work correctly otherwise? wondering if it could be an install issue
