Quartus II SP2 access violation on Vista SP1

Hello,

Quartus II sp2 doesn't work with my Acer Notebook running MS Vista Ultimate 32bit with SP1 System. After installation when I try to browse the license file (by clicking the button with these three dots) I get an access violation error message:

*** Fatal Error: Access Violation at 0X07732690

In other case by choose the 30 days evaulation period with no license file, when I open a new project, vhdl-file for example, and want to save this project, the result is a similar error message:

*** Fatal Error: Access Violation at 0X08C92690

Whatever I do, Quartus doesn't works well. I tried to reinstall with the "run as administrator" method, but the result is the same.

I hope someone has an idea how to fix this problem? It's the Web Edition.

    I Just Installed both Version 7 and 8 of the Quartus 2 software on my Acer laptop (Aspire 7720G) and had exactly the same problem...

    I have to uninstall the "acer empowering technology" suite, as this was using

    the resources that Quartus 2 needed.

    Hi superkidmcsd,

    May I know what resources that the software is using which causing this problem? Is there any other way to resolve this besides uninstalling this software?
