Greetings. I have decided to learn FPGAs and purchased an Altera cyclone II development board. I have QII installed and began taking the tutorial. Just as the many others on this forum, I hit a brick wall when ram.vhd was not found. I have read other threads on this forum but have not found the solution other than jumping ahead into unknown territory. I would like to agree that this approach is counter to the purpose of following a tutorial like this. One thread that addressed this issue resulted in an individual loosing his ability to give helpful answers after the newbie used the term 'crapware'. I sincerely like to avoid making a similar mistake so please accept my humility. Such an issue seems silly to exist, when after a great deal of time researching and an investment greater than what I've spent on any of my other development tools, I chose to take the Altera path for learning FPGAs. I am very thankful for this community and all who contribute. I am terribly excited to learn all that I can about developing in Altera's universe. But I do not believe there has been an update or solution given unless I missed it. If I am mistaken then the three 'ram.vhd' posts should be updated for referencing newbies. An Altera intern even reproduced and experienced the same problem. An intern cared enough about this community to reach out and help solve a problem. Many others also attempted and proposed solutions. To me, that is evidence that this community may be a great place to learn and contribute throughout my experience learning and developing on Altera. Perhaps this is an issue that some higher-ups have decided does not deserve any further attention or a solution. If so, I apologize. Please do not misinterpret the tone of this post as negative, ungrateful or rude. I would hate to offend someone who can help fix this issue and get off to a bad start. Thank you kindly for your time and keep up the good work! Many problems I have faced in my minimal experience along this path have had no clear or easy answer. I expect that a missing vhd file will be the least of my frustrations throughout this journey. Accepting the challenge of FPGA development will certainly result in far more complex problems to solve. But simple setbacks that distract from the education and have no clear solution should be remedied. Alas I will tackle the mega wizard and see if he can summon up a ram.vhd file that doesn't result in errors further down the line. Such an amazing tutorial made by a great company deserves this fix. As a beginner, working through the tutorial is a great way to learn. If the only proposed fix is still to build the file yourself, then the tutorial needs to be amended.
