Quartus forgets project is compiled after exit/restart

Hi,

I am currently using quartus 14, though I had the same problem with earlier versions.

Basically if I do a a part of full compile - e.g. analysis & synthesis, fitting, etc., and then save and quit quartus, next time I open the project quartus doesn't remember that I compiled it, which means I have to run the process over again which for such a large project (based around a Stratix V), it wastes 40 minutes every morning.

Is there a setting I am missing to get quartus to remember it is compiled? or to force quartus into remembering?

I am using incremental compilation, but it still has to spend a long time analysing the source files and then fitting despite the fact none of the partitions need synthesising.

    What do you mean by "Quartus forgets"? Compiled files are gone? Report isn't showed anymore?

    Reports are still available, but the green ticks next to each stage are gone. But more importantly if I open one of the netlist viewers, e.g. RTL viewer, it will rerun the compilation even though it had already been run the previous time the project was open.

    Is it not accidentally a bug of 14.0? 13.1 here works fine, I even restarted my PC, all the green ticks on the right place, RTL viewers shows design immediately.

    It might be, but I recall having the same problem in 13.1. I'll double check that as I have 13.1 installed on another computer.

    I worked it out to be related to signal tap. If ST is enabled then the project when opened forgets that it is compiled. With ST disabled it remembers perfectly well (unless the last time the project was opened Quartus crashed).
