Q8.1 gcc 3.4.6 but Q9.0 gcc 3.4.4 ?

Quartus V8.1 has the gcc 3.4.6 compiler

after upgrading Quartus to 9.0Sp2 the gcc is 3.4.4

is there any reason why the gcc is switched back to an older version ?

    nios2-elf-gcc -v shows 3.4.6 on my Linux install of 9.0sp2. i think it should be the same on Windows.
