programing MAX II device

hi all,

I am an engineering student and making a project on MAXII EPM1270 device.

When i open programmer window in quartusII and "auto detect" the device, It shows the device detected. Till here everything is allright.

But when i add a ".JAM" file and start programing, it shows a message. the message is:-

"can not start device configuration because no programing option have been selected for device chain".

I am using a byteblaster MV jtag cable for programing.

I don't understand what does it means. Can anybody help me?
