PowerPlay Power Analysis: Total or Instantaneous power?

Hi,

I am basically trying to demonstrate Power Analysis side channel attacks in embedded systems, for which I need to know instantaneous power dissipation by a design.

It would be wonderful if any of you can clarify whether the PowerPlay Power Analysis can just give total power dissipation of a design or it can also give Instantaneous power/current dissipation.

Thanks,

Amjad

Have the same problem. It would be interesting to see power consumption each period of time.

There is a way to measure power only on a specific time limit (using VCD file), but we all know that the power is not rising straight away, so how can we actually see i.e. to see much power adder uses for its operation, how this power rises till its reaches its pick and the same for the decrease??

Please reply if you have any info about this.

    Thanks a lot.
