PCIe BFM for Quartus 12.0

I've taken to downloading both Windows and Linux installations for each new release. In hindsight, this was very useful, given that the PCIe BFM disappeared past 11.0.

Has anyone tried the Tarek BFMs? Any feedback on how nicely the code is written and how user-friendly they find the BFMs? Are they SystemVerilog UVM/OVM/VMM (or whatever three letter acronym is the latest class library)? Do they have VHDL BFMs? Modelsim-ASE is single-language only, so is Modelsim-SE a requirement?

I don't see any comments regarding Altera PCIe interfacing on Tarek's web site. Its not clear whether you have to implement the PCIe interface using only the SERDES, or can use the much-faster-for-simulation PCIe PIPE interface (the other 100+ ports on the PCIe component).
