New ModelSim won't start!

New installation of ModelSim 10.0. I get a splash screen, which stays for a few seconds and then vanishes. No error code, no squawking about licenses, nothing.

The license file is in place and pointing correctly. Quartus works just fine.

    Modelsim-ASE or SE?

    If you're running SE, then look at the license server log files. You should see license check-outs and ins, eg., 

    
17:19:47 (mgcld) IN: "msimhdlsim" dwh@kea  
17:19:52 (mgcld) OUT: "msimhdlsim" dwh@kea

    Try running it from the command-line, eg., type the command 'vsim' in a NIOS IDE shell. Perhaps it'll output something that'll help determine the problem.
