megawizard to qsys integration

Hello

I am using Quartus 12.1 , I have generated a custom component using the megawizard Plug-in manager. The custom IP is a Stratix V Transceiver native PHY 12.1.

Part of the flow , we can create a new preset file for that specific IP (Stratix V Transceiver native PHY 12.1). When saving the Preset file , the IP configuration interface tells me :

"Do you want to add the save path into search Path ?"

"Reminder : adding to search path will load this preset automatically next time you launch any project in QSYS"

I press YES.

The path is indeed added to the search directory path , but I can t see the IP anywhere in the list of available IP.

It also gives me the option to add the QIP file to Quartus. I say NO , I want to connect the IP to my QSYS system.

Do I need to create a wrapper around my new generated IP (QSYS => New Component...)to be able to see it in QSYS ? or I am missing something ?

If I have to create a wrapper , this is fine , but why is the Megawizard including the Preset file in the QSYS search Path ?

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Benoit

    Hello Mirza

    No need for wrapper.

If I remember well (it was in 2013) , after the IP is generated, you need to add the path of the generated IP in QSYS :

Tools => OPTIONS => IP Search Path => add

I have to say that sometimes and depending of the version of Quartus , the software would not always scan properly the added path , sometimes I had to do it a few times.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers

    Ben
