Issue installing USB-Blaster II to Quartus Prime...

Hi guys. So I have Quartus Prime Lite installed, but I think I missed one thing. I am not able to connect my Max10 Neek development board to communicate via on-board USB-Blaster II. When I first connected the board, I did Not find the drivers manually, as i'm now clear on, and as a result a 'uart/USB driver was found automatically. So now I would like to know the steps I should take to remedy the situation. I have tried going to the USC devices and uninstalling the driver but now it just comes back when I connect USB-Blaster II again, rather than asking for drivers instructions.

I have also read on other threads that I will need to in-install Quartus and try again. True?

Will re-installing fully remove this wrong driver? Thanks for your help.

Ok, I am going to try something, as soon as I am convinced it is safe to try. I have right clicked in file explorer on 'This PC' , select 'properties' , then 'advanced system settings' , select 'hardware' tab , select 'device installation settings' , select 'no' to 'do you want to automatically download manufacturers' apps, ...' . I then uninstalled the problem driver from the USB devices, and restarted the PC - the driver is still gone. I am about to connect the board now.

Normally, when first connecting a board, Win10 tries to find 'suitable drivers' for new hardware, and you abort that process and point to the drivers manually.

But I am assuming I can leave 'automatic download of apps' off while I complete the installation, and then turn back on for good measure, once the board is confirmed to be on-line - is this correct? Thanks.

UPDATE: (fail) OK, so the auto-install pop-up did not show, as expected with auto-install turned off, however, once I disconnected the board, and then reconnected the board a minute later, the same problem drivers (serial converter and (COM4)) showed up again - but now when I disconnect the board, these drivers disappear from the devices window.

Should I try 'disabling' the driver rather than 'uninstall' them?

How about should I try removing the drivers windows wants from the folder they're in? Thanks for your support.

Here's the drivers windows is still using when I connect the board. How about if I rename the folder or move the folder away?

    Hi,

    Okay,Try by uninstalling it.

    Step 1.connect the board.

Step 2.On device manager right click on com 4 and uninstall it. After that Remove the USB Blaster from host machine.

Step 3.Now it should show the alter usb blaster in device manager has shown in the images in previous post.

step 4.right click on that and update it by manually pointing the driver folder in quartus installation directory.

Don't do any modification in drivers folder of windows.

    Hope this may work now.

    Best Regards,

Hi. Thanks, Anand. Looks like I still have the problem - at step 3, I see no blaster in devices yet, so the wrong driver needs to be cleared somehow.
