HOW TO simulate IP with avalon bus connections in it

I am a new man about this ,so ,the problem may be very stupid for you , but help me out.

I have a IP ,and it got some connections with avalon bus. I wanna do the simulation to check out if my IP works,and if the Avalon Bus

communication works.What and How should I do this? Please tell me in detail.....Or where can I get the details.

And if my IP does not work,will you give me some suggestions about making up  IP,you know some books or what. Thank

you .
