How to maximize license utilization?

I my team, 4 FPGA design engineers are sharing 1 license server for Quartus II. We often run into license conflict. Most of the time we can resolve this problem by just announcing 'I am compiling'. B...

By the way, we've just implemented a "wait for license" mode in the latest Quartus II version 7.1/7.2/8.0. In this mode, if a license is needed (either 'quartus' or IP) but is currently checked out by someone else, Quartus will wait for the license to become available. This mode is enabled by adding "WAIT_FOR_LICENSE = on" to the "General" section of the quartus2.ini file located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user> for PC and ~/.altera.quartus/quartus2.ini for Linux. There will be no GUI for enabling this mode.
