how to correctly assign to these variables

is STD_LOGIC_VECTOR (7 DOWNTO 0) assumed assign is integer ?

if in hex number, can it be written in

constant preamble : STD_LOGIC_VECTOR (7 DOWNTO 0) := x'55555555555555';
