Do any Quartus II Web versions work with Stratix I S80?

Hello all,

I would like to use an old development kit that has a Stratix S80 (EP1S80B956C6) FPGA on it. Do you know if the older free versions of the Quartus II support this device?

I downloaded version v10.1 and even though this device is listed in the device selection, I get an error when I compile. It will compile for the Stratix S10 targets, which is why I am wondering if the S80 was previously supported. Quartus II v12 did not list any Stratix devices (which is in line with the documentation for that release. I can't find similar documentation for the previous versions)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it would be a shame to give up on this dev board.

    I don't think the Web Edition has ever supported Stratix series devices. I took a look in Quartus 9.0sp1 Web Edition and 9.01sp2 Subscription Edition (which I use for FLEX10K devices), and they list the Stratix devices as "(not installed)". I probably did not install the package in the Full Edition, however, I don't think the Web Edition lets you select anything, so its likely not installed there either.

    File an Altera Service Request and ask them. Let them know you have an evaluation board that you'd like to test. Perhaps they will provide a board-locked-licence. You could also just try the Full Edition, I think it gives you a 30 day evaluation period.

    Quartus 11.1sp1 lists the Stratix device you mention, so if 12.0 Full Edition does not support the Stratix series, try the last version of the 11.x series.

    Thanks for your response Dave, I installed Quartus II 10.1 Web and it has support for some of the Stratix devices, hence I was wondering if previous versions had support for the S80.

    I'll contact Altera directly to see what they say.
