DDR high performance controller license issue

The DDR controllers can be used under the opencore plus (http://www.altera.com/literature/an/an320.pdf) evaluation license.

If you do not have a full license for the DDR controller, you can only generate a SOF file which you must configure the FPGA with via JTAG. As long as you leave the JTAG connected, the memory controller will keep working. If you disconnect it from the computer, it will stop working after a timeout which if I recall correctly is one hour.
