Couldn't install usb blaster driver on HP dv4-1020us notebook (64bit Vista)

Hello,

I have installed the Quartus-II 8.0 SP1 on HP dv4-1020us notebook (64bit Windows Vista), the software is runing fine. When I plug in the usb blaster cable which connects to a Terasic DE3 board, the computer successfully found the device and serached for the driver. I pointed the driver location to "Altera\80\quartus\drivers\usb-blaster" and it failed being installed. Wondering if this is related to Vista 64bit since I can install the driver onto a 32bit Vista without any problem. Any one has an input on this problem?

Thanks!

richo25, I'm not sure what you mean by "test mode." If you're refering to the boot switch to turn off driver signing, that is not an option in some circumstances. In fact, the only time this really even makes sense is when you are using your machine as a driver test bed.

please try the driver included with 9.1 for Windows Vista, it should be resigned.

Yes, thepancake, this issue has been resolved in 9.1. Probably this thread should be closed, if that's possible on the board.

Just try this, it might work because I also encountered the same problem. I searched the solution throughout the forum but I still couldn't find it. Then I just tried to set to upper directory: C: .../quartus/drivers. Then, I ticked the subfolder inclusion. And it works..

Hope my post can help you...
