can't open read-only file

Just upgraded to 10.1 on Archlinux. Getting an error message from File-> Create/Update-> but not for all options, eg create VHDL from bdf works, create AHDL gives 'can't open read-only file', as does...

No intelligent answer from Altera Support yet, just misunderstanding of the problem. I wonder whether the response was from someone with limited understanding of Linux/Unix :(
