3D array

hi every body

can i declare a 2D array as following ? 

type dataout is array (6 downto 0,11 downto 0) of std_logic_vector(7 downto 0);

i guess this is a 3D array not 2D.

so how i can have a 2d array of std_logic_vector?

    Yes you can declare it, its fine.

    That is an array - its a 2d array type of a 1d array type. (its not a 3d array).
