What differece between CFI flash and non CFI flash

i use nios2 IDE&#39;s flash programmer to download my program to flash, only to failed. the console said:

nios2-flash-programmer: Error opening target har ware

nios2-flash-programmer: Unable to open flash-evice after successfully communicating

my flash chip is am29lv800, is it a CFI flash or non CFI flash?

    If you don&#39;t know, you must read the device data sheet.

    It is not CFI-compliant.
