using uart as stdin/stdout/stderr

Hi all,

when i try to use uart as stdin/stdout/stderr for a simple application of

hello world i am getting on the console as

"nios2-terminal can't open uart permission denied"

can anybody explain me where i might have gone wrong???

    The com port in your PC that you would like to connect (e.g. com1) has been used by another application, maybe the mouse? or the modem?

    BTW, did you start he nios2-terminal from shell/command prompt or within the NIOS II IDE?
