USB blaster and NIOS I

Hi all

Can I use USB blaster cable to load srec file to sram of NIOS I system? And than use this cable as debug channel (terminal mode). I have quartus 5.0 sp1 and latest (and last:) NIOS I. If I try use this cable via sld quartus then blue LED on USB blaster light for cca 1 sec and then error occurs. If I try nios run with connection dialog the USB blaster option is gray. It's look like USB blaster is not supported for old NIOS processor.

I don't want to shift to NIOS II.
