trace error message

In the NIOSII IDE Trace window I get the message "unexpected control instruction before sync point".

Scenario:

I am running my firmware in debug. Eventually, it crashes. When I click on the "Trace" tab, that is the message I get. I am hoping to use this feature of the IDE to track down this sort of random crash.
