Tera terminal instead of eclipse

I am using NIOS II processor in the design, i will invoke test from the selection menu, which validates the design and print the status from NIOS II console. once we have generated all the required files (BSP,HAL drivers,.elf) from eclipse, using generated files and Tera terminal can we communicate with processor the same way as we did using eclipse, where selection of test and display of status has to be done through Tera terminal ?

supose we initialized the on chip memory with .elf file
