Support for console on Altera JTAG UAR

I put in the kernel linux "Support for console on Altera JTAG UAR" but after do:

nios2-download -g zImage and then nio2-terminal

I don't see anything? Why?

I use ev. board 1c12 with cyclone and I rebuild linux kernel using hippo guide.
