Stratix IV GX FPGA Development Kit and Linux

I Just purchased the Stratix IV GX FPGA Development Kit, only to find out that I have to find a windows box to start. Looking into the windows installation, I find bash/tcl scripts (that winblows cannot even read correctly). Are there any resources available for linux.. What would be the best way for someone who has not payed Gates tax to start.
