Standalone installation of Nios-II IDE

Question

Is there a way to install only the IDE for Nios-II?

We need students to be able to develop programs for a Nios-II system without them having to install the entire Quartus and HW-development tool suite.

Not at the moment. You can however download the Nios II evaluation tools version (which comes with the IDE)  that can be run with the Quartus II web edition.
