Slow NIOS-IDE, download and launch

Quartus 6.1, NIOS II IDE6.1, Stratix II dsp board. USB blaster,

When debugging on the target from the IDE it takes 75seconds from the end of the download until the debugger is started and the target stopped at a breakpoint in main. Needless to say this waiting time is annoying.

Do you see similar performance?

Any ideas what the IDE is doing during these 75 seconds?

No activity is seen in the console and the progress tab says "starting debug session" and "Launching (60%)" right up to the moment where the breakpoint is hit.

    Hi Larsen,

    I have exactly the same problem. On my old computer it took 90 sec to start debuging. Now I have a much faster cpu (Core 2 Duo extreme edition) and more ram(2GB), now it takes "only" 40 seconds !!! (that is still to much)

    -> To the altera developers ***please*** improve the stability and speed of the Nios IDE !!! At the moment it's absolute no fun to work with it.
