Receive file or a single hex byte via JTAG_UART core

Hi all,

Is it possible to send a binary file to the NIOS II processor via jtag uart, in the NIOS IIconsole?

Or, is it possible to send a hex byte? It seems that the NIOS II console could only send characters.
