Programming with JTAG

Hi,

How does the NIOS IDE load an application into the SDRAM?

I know that the Jtag Uart and the SDRAM controller are both connected to the AVALON bus as slave devices. Does it work like this:

PC<->JTAG<->AVALON<->SDRAM or is there another way?
