That does sound like a really big lcd display. For my usage the generic lcd that came with altera's dev kit will work fine. It just reports some simple messages as feedback from pushing the buttons on the board, nothing fancy. It turns out others on our team assembled the kits form the box and the lcd did not display correctly. So they thought it might have been hooked up incorrectly and then proceeded to reverse the connectors on the board. That provided the final hit to the lcd display and stopped it from working correctly. I was too late to warn them about the compact flash card and lcd issue before this happened though. So anyways, I am still looking for replacement for a few of them. -Quan
