NiosII IDE linux development environment

Hi, I read somewhere in the altera docs that native linux development is possible for niosII/uKit. What I mean is not having to run a seperate windows box to connect JTAG and start the board. ...

If a full Linux development environment was available, I would also be interested. Additionally, I would be interested in getting the tools ported over to Linux so that I can at least build my filesystem structure, applications, and the kernel on a Linux box. Has anyone done this already?
