with the limited speed and resource of nios2 system, it is not pratical.

did you ever compile on a 66MHz 486 PC?

On 486(33MHz) module, dos+norton commander and TurboC 2.0 has worked.

Sometimes it can be needed, when PC or notebook inaccessible.

    It is not perspective?

Yes, it is possible. ( or nothing impossible).

But it would take a lot of efforts.

if you want some field programming tools, you should think of script interpreters.

eg, python had been ported to uclinux. uClinux-dist/user/python
