Ah, I have found

/opt/altera9.0/ip

/opt/altera9.0/modelsim_ase

/opt/altera9.0/nios2eds

/opt/altera9.0/quartus

I am fairly sure that I don't need modelsim so it looks as though I need to install the other three. Could that be right?
