nios II raw ethernet data

I am doing a project that analyzes network traffic, I need to analyze the raw packets off of the network, what would be the best way to do this it would be nice if i could just send the data straight from the ehthernet to my hardware without having to go through the processor. If anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it. I am using the NIOS stratix 1s10.
