NIOS II Pre-build Step

I can't get the pre-build step to work with NIOS IDE 9.0SP1.

What I want to do is run a script every time a build is attempted.

As a sanity check, I have tried just doing a simple file copy as the pre-build step but nothing happens.

Has anyone managed to get this feature to work?
