New component in SOPC builder

Hi, I am trying to make a basic up/down counter as a component in SOPC builder. An 'en' signal will tell the counter whether to count up or down. I was planning to give this en through NIOS II....

Actually i am new to SOPC, so have no idea how to go around with this.

Can you suggest steps to follow in order to add new component?

It will be really helpful if you could take this example while describing steps.
