"My First Nios II Software" tutorial on starter kit

Greetings,

I am trying to go through the tutorial but do not have the cycloneIII_3c25_niosII folder (supposed to be under kits); I have the cycloneIII_3c25_start folder where the .sof file and the document resides but no .ptf file.

I have installed:

cycloneIII_3c25_start_v9.1.0.exe

91_nios2eds_windows.exe

as well as the quartusII 9.2 web edition.

Please help.

    That document was updated around January 2010 to use the Nios II software build tools for Eclipse. That software build environment doesn't use a .ptf file but instead relies on the .sopcinfo file. If you regenerate the hardware in SOPC Builder you will get a new .ptf file that you can use with the old Nios II IDE. You'll also have to recompile the hardware in Quartus II.

    The .ptf is a legacy file for the most part and the tools are switched over to use .sopc and .sopcinfo files now.
