MultiMaster DMA Examples

Lurking around on Alteras website is a turorial entitled

'Simultaneous Multi-Mastering with the Nios Processor'

which pertains to using a split avalon bus with a DMA controller to handle

read and writing to a CS89000A Mac.

I'm wondering has anyone tried using/adapting this to work with the SMSC91C111

running under the HAL rather than older sdk and obtained any results?
