I a newbie to the FPGA world and I heard about using MicroC Linux with NIOS II processors. Can someone explains to me what's the benefit from using it on my FPGA ? Thanksit really depends on what you need:
- Linux is great for network applications (webserver, ftp server....) - a lot of programs are avaiable and ready to use - Linux does have a lot of hardware drivers - it's an mulittasking os - IT COMES FOR FREE - IT HAS A GREAT COMMUNITY okay but linux also needs some ressources, imo 8MB RAM is mininum to run linux with some applications like webserver or ftp. if anyone has something to add, feel free and do it.You may find some useful links on the wiki. This would help,
