Makefile ROMFS with subfolders

Is there a way to modify the location of the files in the vendors folder? i have differnt Image configurations and i want to make sub folders so that i don't lose the overview. something like...

Maybe an easy way to do this is to create symlinks for the actual files/directories at the places of the standard files/directories.
