linux:make error

i have installed paxutils-2.4h,below is how i installed

tar xfz paxutils-2.4h.tar.gz

cd paxutils-2.4h

./configure

make && make check

make install DESTDIR=/usr/src/paxutils-2.4h/.inst

but the ERROR: you do not have pax-utils installed still not removed,

is the paxutils version wrong?? or any other reason??
