lifetime of a development board?

Hello, Everyone!

Is there anybody knows the typical lifetime of a dev board made by Altera?

I have two Excalibur EPXA1 dev boards from Altera, and I have use them for more than three years. Recently, these two boards began to fuction not correctly. Many problems come up. Such as the flash device could not be recongnized by jtag programmer. Does that means these two boards have reached their end? Or some chips need to be replaced by new ones?
