JTAG UART

Hello,

I want to make some printf outputs by using the JTAG UART. But I don't start my firmware with the nios ide. So can I start the console in the nios ide without using the "run as ->" command? Or is there another console which supports the JTAG UART?

    In Windows run Nios II SDK Shell and write command nios2-terminal.
